Nice article about the evolution of ILM's animatics process and its role in The Phantom Menace (by the way, the website it appears on, beforesandafters.com, is a real treasure trove of VFX articles including old stuff like "Speed" or "The Mummy"). ‘IT COST ABOUT $65 TO HAVE A COLD PIZZA DELIVERED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT TO SKYWALKER RANCH’ (I hope this is the appropriate subforum to post it in :)

Hiya, I brought a set of Evermotion Blender scenes to test out Cycles (Sloooooow), I thought I'd try them in EIAS. There are a couple of UV issues but I thought it looked quite nice. You'll be pleased to know my next project is 100% me :) Thanks, Nige.

Hiya all, As it's a bit quite around here I'd though I'd post a scene I started to mess around with a while ago and never got around to finish. I was having trouble getting a contact shadow under the stuff on the table. Thanks, Nige.

I bought yesterday the kitbash3D SF prop kit called «Greebles». For only $45, it's an incredible value. If one of you ever go for it, be aware that I have created independent EIAS animator files for each objects after working tediously to recreate correctly (as best as I could) all the textures and materials. The only non native plug-in used is MForge. There is a lot less textures in that kit then in the CyberPunk mini kit so it was a fairly straightforward process. I'm doing now the same EIAS importation for the free CyberPunk minikit. Doest anyone know what is the equivalent in Animator for a roughness texture file? Thanks, Maher

Hi Tomas, Yes, I'm doing OK and hoping I'll be in a position to use EIAS again some day. I'm just lurking for now. :)

I have seen the recent Paul Sherstovitof new images and the beautiful light that can get... could be possible with the EiAS renderer? i dont know if you are improving the renderer for this EiAS 10. Thanks for your time Felix

Thanks for inquiring. Status: No Momentum. So I sent the videos out as is. It wasn't finished but with good value and "way more" than enough to learn facial morphs in EIAS. I haven't given up on the Face Rig Anim DVD. I will finish it and send out a final DVD but probably after the EIAS 10 is out. if you are interested I can look it over, send what I have, and try to rekindle momentum on a final. I still offer 1 hour or so support with the DVD. In my view, EIAS could always do realistic facial animation with BlendShape Editor. The girl in the video I did in an old version of EIAS. Here's a sample of Maya rig I am doing some facial animation on now, but it's all the same thing as my Deformer Rig DVD. Cartoon Rig

Happy New year! So, I recently tried to import a Human model obj. into Eias 8 and it did not bring in the uvs for some reason, which made applying the map impossible. I could not check use uvs in the group info box. It was greyed out. This is what I did: 1.I imported the file( https://www.food4rhino.com/resource/mei-posed-001) into EIAS 9 DEMO. and applied the map in there. 2. I reexported the model as a validated fact file which gave me the UVS in version 8, but the map still did not apply properly in version 8 for some reason. 3. I had to save the material from version 9 demo as well and then apply that in version 8. Finally, it worked!

I just uploaded a video that I made 15 years ago. Because CG is always perfect and clean, I went to a plant, just before it closed for good to take hundreds of pictures for reference. I took picture of everything that is messy, rusty and dirty. This is what real life is : chaos. If anyone is interested, I still have the original high-rez pictures. I still look at them before modeling and texturing just for inspiration. 3DCG is too artificial and it is not just the model and material, the placement of stuff also. There is tons of out of place objects scattered around. If it is too boring to watch, increase the speed of the playback in youtube. https://youtu.be/KshgvU591Z0

Ola Tomas. Maybe you can find some middle ground between the current and LW. Maybe like formz ? Anyway, this is low priority for you now, so all good.

Thanks for this new email. Blair sent me the update for Big Dipper 32 bits, but on the old email, and he didn't answer me on another query because he probably don't check very often his old one. Maher

You did not say : not right now in 9.1 but it will in 10 Will there be another way to do it in version 10? It is not something really important, it's just that it prevent people (younger one) from working a certain way: a more modern way. Like I said, I like working in only one orthographic view that I can rotate around. Working axis aligned is not always possible either.

Ok, I did not know that I also had to also install both 32bit libraries on my 64bit os. The two 64 bit one were already installed. So there must be some 32bit code hidden somewhere in EIAS that it link to. Thankyou for the quick response.
